Wishes for us in 2016

May we keep our head high, our hands full of good things to do, our minds enriched with inspiration, and our hearts in the right place.

Oh 2015, if I weren’t any wiser, you’d go down my list as one of my most challenging years yet. But I know I needed the tough love to get to where and who I am at this moment, and I’m nothing short of grateful, fulfilled, and excited for 2016!

My wishes for you and me in 2014 are still eerily relevant, but I’m adding up some more for the coming year, if only to remind me of the gems we find in milestones and rough roads…

That we may find time every day to be grateful to be alive, to do and make things better, and to be who we need to be.

That we may recognize when we do things out of fear or out of love, and we keep going in the direction that feeds our need for connection, acceptance, and purpose.

That we take care of ourselves and see our body as a magnificent machine that helps us create things of value to us, not an armor to wear out in battles we’d rather not wage. May we realize that there is no shame in changing our mind and feelings about people, or our career, or how we lead our life; and that the fun and beauty in transformation lies in how fast and often we embrace the changes, without compromising our core.

That we may remember the moments in our life when we’re so engrossed in doing and being that we don’t care about what others are doing or thinking about us, or if what we’re doing is good at all. May we have more of those moments, despite #adulting and society’s pressures and social media.

That we may be as open about our falls and pains as our rises and successes because often the more important lessons are about how we climb back up and not how we stay at the top.

That we may build relationships that do not tolerate BS, unnecessary drama, and unhealthy attachments and relish in ones that keep us grounded, make us feel safe, and bring out the best in us.

That we may find more time to be still, witness the world with our own eyes, and choose gladness and joy, despite our fears and uglies.

That we become a source of light in our own universe and leave anyone who passes by our orbits energized and alive, and longing to experience us once more.

That no matter how unpretty we feel or look, or how inadequate and unskilled we deem ourselves to be, may we still show up and do the work. May we realize that the only way to live a brave life is to decide to do so every day.

May we keep our head high, our hands full of good things to do, our minds enriched with inspiration, and our hearts in the right place.
