A room full of who I want to be

Today, I found myself in a room full of the country’s bigwigs in public health and health advocacy. The ‘impostor syndrome’ instantly kicked in — you don’t belong here, it whispered.

Today, I found myself in a room full of the country’s bigwigs in public health and health advocacy. The ‘impostor syndrome’ instantly kicked in – you don’t belong here, it whispered. It was only when discussions were about needing many talents in solving complex problems that I got to calm my nerves. We all can contribute something.

And here are people who have overcome the odds and hunkered down constantly to do important work. Also, they seem to be enjoying what they do!

By the way, it happened right at my alma mater. I left UP Maskom almost 10 years ago and I feel old, but I also feel I’m very much a beginner. I’m glad to find some of the right people to inspire me. There’s so much work to do.
